Its with this chapter that i give up.

After reading for 3 chapters, it doesn’t take an IQ above 300 to tell whats going on exactly. This series, in my opinion, has two goals in mind.

The First is to try to build characters that you would enjoy seeing. While a series can’t live off great characters alone, it does help a series. Keisuke and Makura are both very likable, and are a bit less bland then when the series started.

They really are likable characters. They just need a better plot.

The Second… is to out due Kenichi in Fan Service.

The Return... of DAT ASS!

This series has alot of fanservice and it doesn’t hide it. And while in Kenichi, where its just appeasing its male audience with it, Pajama na Kanojo seems more a series aimed to a female demographic, so… why? Ok i get it, WSJ is a magazine aimed at younger boys, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have stories that aim to the opposite sex. No one ever said a girl can’t like One Piece. So the fanservice really makes no sense. And to have it while pushing, what should be, a fairly innocent plotline, mixing sleeping beauty with modern day, just feels jarring and unnecessary.

This couldn't be more disney unless next chapter, Keisuke turns into a big hairy beast... or goes through puberty, same thing.

We also should talk about Shirai, who turns out in this chapter to be the granddaughter of the sleep specialist. Now the point of her is basically to be the second love interest, a role common in most romance manga. The only problem is that i can’t see her hooking up with Keisuke in any way. The relationship between Keisuke ans Makura has been built up in a way that it’s feels impossible that another woman could steal Keisuke away. So, what role does she really serve?

You were expecting, actual love interest?

Ok, one last thing i need to talk about for this chapter, and i would ask you read this next page closely, cause if you think about it long enough, it will hurt you like it did me.

Read the bottom part, and name the plot hole.

Do you see the plot hole here? Shall i say it? Ok i will.

How does nobody notice the random invisible person eating food, or why Keisuke’s parents don’t question why there are more dishes than normal to wash, or the bath tub still full after everyone is done bathing. Also, how is it that this “Ghost” gets hungry? This plot is slowly starting to make no sense while explaining nothing. And all we can hope is to get is a exposition dump from the sleep specialist.

Folks, i had not planned on reviewing the second chapter of this series, but if this keeps up the way it did with this chapter, i may just have to cover this whole series bit by bit, because this was BAD.

Someone has seen one too many Disney movies in their day.

Our chapter begins with Makura in a hospital bed sleeping. We don’t get any reason why she’s sleeping, she just kinda is. No, i’m serious. She’s not dead, she’s not in a Coma, she’s just sleeping. And also we have way to romantic of a doctor treating her for my tastes.

In the 1940's, this guy might of passed as charming. Now he's just creepy.

Now, allow me to repeat myself. She is not Dead. She is not in a Coma. She is just Sleeping. She can’t wake up on her own, and that does sound like a Coma, but the manga goes out of it’s way to clarify with it’s audience, that she is not in a Coma, just Sleeping. That leaves me with one question… WHO THE FUCK IS THE FLOWING BITCH!

Begone Demon! You will not suck out my soul today!

So here’s the story. Makura was found sleeping in the Botanical Garden and when she wouldn’t wake up, she was taken to a hospital. Now, it is hinted at that she was pricked by a rose and that’s what put her to sleep, and if that is the case, then i really wish the story would have just flat out told us. As thinks are left now, i’m just left with dozens of questions and no answers, along with no desire to continue reading after being tricked into continuing this series by the hands of a false cliffhanger. However, the next 20 pages does make me realize that this story may be less about Makura, and more about Keisuke.

I have a different Theory in mind.

Let’s look at the facts of this chapter, shall we? Keisuke is the only one that can see Makura as a ghost. Now, that’s a common enough plot thread, but there’s more. She has no memory of what happened to her, and it hasn’t been clarified that she has any memories but the ones that both her and Keisuke share. For example, one of the bigger events of the first chapter was Makura spotting Shirai teasing Keisuke, which lead to this whole mess, but Makura has yet to show she has any recollection of that. But that’s not the only thing weird. Even though she’s suppose to be a ghost, she can get wet and feels solid to Keisuke, shown in this really inappropriate image.

I think she gets the point! Oh Yes! Feel the Pain!

This leads me to believe that Keisuke is just imagining the Makura he’s seeing, and rather than this be a fun romantic romp that this series seem to be leading down, and instead will be a series about Keisuke trying to get over the death of his friend who he’s known for all his life. Anyway, the chapter ends with…

… SO SHE DOES REMEMBER! THEN WTF IS SHE! She’s not dead, so she’s not a ghost. An out of body experience maybe, but… ow, my brain. I haven’t been this confused since the ending of Room 33. This chapter sucked so bad. There’s no explanation yet as to what she is, and frankly, the characters are way to copy and paste from other romance series for me to care. So, most likely, i’ll be back next week to bitch about chapter 3. Cause hey, i’m optimistic, this series might pick itself up in later chapters, right… right?

Weekly Shonen Jump has recently added two more series to its long running magazine. The first was High Kyuu!!!, which is actually Japanese for Volleyball. I facepalm at the title, but i’ve yet to read this series, so i can’t comment past that. The second new series, however, is the topic of our post. So i bring to you my first impressions of Pajama na Kanojo.

Throbbing Love Fantasy of the Stars Above!

Otomaki Makura & Mezamashi Keisuke have been best friends all their life. They’ve bathed together, they’ve played together; but all things must come to an end as adolescents catches up to them, bring about the feelings that come along with it. At least that’s the tone i got from the first half of this story. I would say that the first half of the story is meant to establish out main love interests, but in reality, after seeing this page. I’m pretty sure all your manga fans can tell what kind of series this is gonna be.

And our second contender, weighing in a one ton per breast, Lover Interest #2!

Because only in Manga can a simple bump create a breeze enough to not only throw up a woman’s skirt, but her shirt enough the we could see her bra as well. And next page we see him grabbing her bum through a box. Ok, let me explain. This is Shirai-Senpai, a person who is the big talk of the school after starring in a commercial that morning. Wanted to escape from… fans? Executives? I don’t know, the manga never clarified on that. To escape, Keisuke hides her in a box which he carries out of the school. She then proceeds to verbally tease him, cause we need to save the sexual teasing for a later chapter. I’m calling it right now. This manga’s gonna go for a PG-13 rating by the end of its run.

Ok, to be Honest, Those Thighs look hot as fuck. Nice job, Kosuke.

Makura witnesses this, assuming its more that it appears, and try’s to get back at him with Sexual Tension. Told ya so.

Ass Ass Ass Ass Ass Ass Ass Ass Ass

Ok, i’m sorry, i’m focusing too much on female sexy parts. Must stop writing with my penis. So the tension does get to Keisuke, causing him to yell at Makura. After that, she leaves and time passes. Late at night, Keisuke’s mother asks him to go find Makura, who never made it home. Keisuke heads to an old sunflower patch, as its important to their past. Its here that Keisuke had been lost here before, and Makura was able to find him when no one else  could. So, of course, and feel free to say it with me. Keisuke was able to find Makura without trouble.

Yes, even this needs Fan Service.

Sharing this heartfelt moment, it almost seems like there’s nothing that could get in the way of their love. That they have shared so many memories together that its seems only natural that they would get together by the end of this series. However, things aren’t always what they appear. Keisuke’s mother calls him up telling him that she’s sending a cab for him to come to the hospital. Her voice is rushed and urgent, as if something horrible has happened, and then we find out…

So you think your in love with a dead chick, tonight on Dr.Phil

Overall, this first chapter didn’t impress me too much, but this cliffhanger ending, i guarantee, will make me come back next week to find out what the hell is going on. Did She really die? Is she in a coma maybe and having an out of body experience? This was a great cliffhanger, worthy of the levels of Bakuman. As for the rest, its average. Nothing really jumped out, but nothing was too bad. The Characters were a bit bland, with only sparks of personality and really, there doesn’t seem to be a plot to this manga other than the girl i loved is dead and now she’s haunting me. Didn’t we do this same manga with mirrors just a short while ago? So, if this sounds like a story that would interest you, then by all means, look this series up. But if what i’ve talked about sounds like it would bore you, then you might wanna skip this manga. Thanks for Reading, don’t forget to comment down below, and have a great day.
